One of our members shared a funny meme recently and it was basically saying: “I’m being offered more protein these days than I was ever offered drugs when I was younger.” And honestly… it’s not far off. So let’s talk about it properly...

If you’re over 40 and you feel stiff, sore, tired, and like your body is starting to creak for no obvious reason… you’re not alone.
A few things I hear from busy parents: “I’m tired all the time.” “My back is always tight.” “My knees are at me.” “I feel stiff getting out of bed.” “I’m never 100%.” “I’m feeling old!” And usually it’s not one big dramatic injury. If you’re over 40, busy, tired, and thinking about getting back into training or looking after yourself again, the biggest mistake you can make is trying to fix everything at once.
Most people don’t need a new plan. They need a simple, clear set of priorities. I’ve had thousands of conversations with parents over the years who feel flat, run down, frustrated with their energy levels, and overwhelmed by where to start. They’re not lazy. They’re not unmotivated. They’re just exhausted and unclear on what actually matters first. So if I was in that position, here’s exactly what I’d focus on first. Not forever. Just first. If the thought of “starting again” this January feels heavy, overwhelming, or draining, you’re not alone.
Some people feel that way because they were training before Christmas, stopped, and now feel like they’re back at square one. Others feel that way because they haven’t trained in a long time and January feels like a mountain they’re expected to climb all at once. Different situations. Same feeling. |
