why stopping after 6 weeks may be the biggest mistake you make

A little bit of real talk for you today.

You can’t future proof your health, build meaningful strength, or undo years and years of neglect or wear and tear in 6 weeks.

And yet, so many people still treat getting back into fitness or a 6 week programme like it’s the final destination. Like it’s some magic reset button or a total life/body transformation.
Here’s the truth: it’s not.

It’s the warm-up.

I've seen it so many times over the years. Someone signs up. Shows up. Starts feeling better. They’re getting into a rhythm. They’re starting to believe in themselves again.

Then… they stop.

And that right there might be the single biggest mistake you can make.

Here’s why:

1. It’s a lifestyle shift you actually need

Not a short burst. Not a sprint. Not a “fix”.

You didn’t get where you are overnight - and that’s not a judgement, it’s just the reality. Life gets busy. Careers, kids, stress, aging, all of it adds up.

So what you need now is not another intense bootcamp or 6-week "transformation".

You need something sustainable. A way of training, eating, and looking after yourself that you can actually see yourself doing in 6 months, 12 months, 10 years.

That’s where the real change lives.

2. Strength needs to be built - and kept

Think of strength like brushing your teeth.

You wouldn’t do it for 6 weeks, see progress, and then stop completely and hope for the best.

Same with your physical strength. It protects your joints. Supports your bones. Keeps your metabolism healthier.

And when done right, it makes everyday life easier - carrying shopping, lifting kids or grandkids, avoiding injury, getting off the floor, climbing stairs without feeling broken.

It doesn’t just happen in 6 weeks. It starts in 6 weeks - and builds from there.

3. It’s taken years to feel to get to this point

Let’s be a little bit direct here.

You might be 5, 10, even 20 years into a cycle of:

  • Inactivity
  • Dieting and stopping
  • Gaining weight
  • Low energy
  • Poor sleep
  • Stiff joints

So why would you expect to fix that in a few weeks?

6 weeks can be the kickstart or the spark - but you still need to fuel the fire.

4. You can’t future proof yourself in a month and a half

Real health and strength is a long game.

If you want to be the 50, 60, or 70 year old who’s still able to train, walk, lift, carry and LIVE well - you need to build that now.

You’re not just training for now. You’re training for your future self.

Because the cost of not doing it? That’s coming too. Maybe not this year. But eventually.

5. Fat loss is happening - even if you can’t see it yet

One of the biggest mistakes people make is chasing fast visual results and giving up just before the real changes start kicking in.

Just because the scales haven’t moved dramatically, doesn’t mean your body isn’t shifting.

You’re:

  • Rebalancing hormones
  • Reducing inflammation
  • Building lean tissue
  • Regulating hunger and energy
  • Laying foundations for a stronger metabolism

This stuff isn’t visible on a day-to-day basis. But it matters hugely. And if you stop now, you don’t give your body the chance to show you what it can do.

6. Momentum is fragile

This one matters most.

You’ve finally started. You’ve made time for yourself. You’re showing up.

That is MASSIVE.

But if you slam the brakes now?
You lose more than just a few training sessions.
You lose belief. Confidence. Rhythm.

Momentum is hard to build. But easy to lose. So don’t stop when it’s just starting to click.

Final word?

If you’re recently back into fitness or near the end of your first few weeks - or you’ve done one in the past - ask yourself:

Was that just a taste of what’s possible?

Or are you really ready to go back to how things were?

Because here’s the truth:

You don’t need to be perfect.
You don’t need to know all the answers.
You just need to keep going - with structure, support and a bit of patience.

That’s where the real change happens.
