We are hard wired to focus on the negative. It's a survival instinct.
So if you are face with a "negative" exam result. Or a fitness or health assessment isn't where it should be. Maybe you've put on weight and fallen backwards slightly? In these situations you could be forgiven for saying "feck it" I'm done.... This however is a mistake. An issue with your mindset. How you choose to look at things.....

If you've found you've struggled to achieve your goals, there may be two things you need to work on.
- Self control - your ability to control your emotions, your decision making & your behaviours - Discipline - your ability to put off what you want in the moment for what you want the most (aka: delayed gratification) Why are these two things important? Well for example - Without them, you may struggle to maximise the benefits of all your efforts in the gym. In your real world, this boils down to.... If there is one thing I understand is how to "fail".
I've attempted many things in life and fallen short. On the other hand, I can say that in many aspects of life I've also been "successful" and achieved many of the goals I've set myself. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that if I have succeeded in anything it has ALWAYS been down to my (positive) mindset. Remember when you went through that difficult break up when you were younger?
You know what I mean - you were in love. He/she was your soulmate. You were going to be together FOREVER. Right? But then - you started to notice that they didn't seem the same as they were at the start. In the beginning - They wanted to be around you all the time.... Always putting you first...making time for you... But after a while.... It 's clear they weren't as into you as you were into them. I was chatting to someone this week about joining our 6 Week Foundations program here in Evolutis Personal Training Gym.
I always find it interesting listening to people trying to rationalise starting or continuing with their fitness journey...... (After 15+ years, working with 1000s of kids, athletes, men & women, it's fair to say I've heard ALL excuses!) Anyway - During the chat I was having we came on to price and it was at this point that the word "afford" was used........😰 Hearing something like this from anyone isn't nice, right?
When it comes from your 9 year old it cuts a little deeper. My amazing little girl Valentina is normally friendly, happy and super creative. Going to bed brings out a few emotions however. Something you have had to deal with yourself? You've probably said "I'd do anything for my kids" at some point, right?

The results Derek has achieved are SO good I just had to share them with you. These results are INCREDIBLE! (but not surprising....) So last week I had the opportunity to deliver a Ted Talk style presentation to 200+ of my fellow fitness & gym owner peers in the Aviva Stadium.
(As a separate and slightly added bonus, the Ireland International Rugby team were training there that morning!) The event was run by the excellent FMA - it was a really amazing day with loads of brilliant key note speakers and lots of people in attendance looking to learn and grow. I was a little bit ill, tired and as a result nervous in the lead up and on the day itself. (SAD FACE!) 😢 To be completely honest I could have found any number of reasons to postpone my talk!
