When tackling a full-time job, taking ae of your children and meeting your social needs it can become challenging to keep on top of your health and fitness. It’s easy to fall for “quick” solutions for food and neglect our body’s essential need for activity and exercise.
Sometimes you get to a point where you try to introduce new habits but because of the rest of your family and friends are leading their lives at a different pace and by different habits, it becomes very challenging to adhere to a new exercise and nutrition regime AND still spend quality time with your loved ones.
If that sounds like you and your family, look no further. The Evolutis team has dedicated their expertise to help people just like you to make family life easier and bring exercise accessible from the smallest to the eldest. If you have doubts how exercising as a family can work out, read on and find out the benefits of bringing family together in health and fitness.
1. It can establish lifelong habits
Experts say and experience supports the claim that children do what their parents do, often unconsciously. The best way to ensure your children create lifelong lifestyle habits for health and fitness is to show them how it’s done and help them find activities they enjoy.
2. It provides extra motivation and support
When enrolling onto a journey to get your fitness into gear, just as with any other goals in life you’ll have days when you thrive and others when you are not motivated to follow through with your plan. That’s when your support system comes into play if you have one. Family is where you spend most of your time outside of work and it’s important to have them on your side. You will soon realise that being supported by your significant other and your children can be the most uplifting experience on a low day.
3. Creates quality time and strengthens the family
In the age of technology ‘family time’ often means watching a film in cinema or on the couch. We don’t condemn movie time, there is place for everything, however it doesn’t allow meaningful conversations to take place. On the other hand if you as a family together or as each member have your fitness schedule, there will always be topics to discuss. When playing together in a team sport, you will get stronger as a family and improve your team work.
4. It can be done on a budget
Getting out of the couch and going outdoors cost nothing. Kicking the ball around the park or throwing frisbee at each other can also be done on a very low budget (you only need to buy the football or the frisbee once in a while). According to a study by One Big Switch an average night out in Ireland costs €112, this includes baby sitter, transport, dinner and drinks. Membership for our group fitness sessions cost less than that and will have bigger impact on your future.
5. It’s fun!
Getting the whole family active might seem challenging at start, but once you find a way for having fun together whilst building a healthier and happier future, you will start to see improvements almost instantly.
We are proud of all the mums, dads and their children who attend our group fitness sessions regularly at their family friendly gym. Everybody can find something suitable for their needs and likes: superdads and supermums can attend specially designed sessions as well as mixed group sessions. We run soccer performance and strength coaching programs for the youth (12+) and there are studio activities available including yoga to relax and dancing classes for the young ones.
During school holidays parents are welcome to bring children along; while mum and dad are working hard on the gym floor, kids can either watch them sweat or enjoy the benefits of our waiting area that is equipped with toys, books and computer with internet access. Our regular parents & kids sessions come as an added bonus to the membership and creates a fun environment for quality family time.
