So apparently being healthy is "boring"..... At least according to the person I spoke to the other day. The point they made was that to be fit and healthy, they felt you had to eat the same "boring" meals all the time. Maybe you've felt the same? Anyway.... I can understand why the person I was chatting to felt this way - they have struggled with their health & fitness for a long time - however the real issue for this person is a resistance to change.
Because change is hard. For example - I turned this back on them by making the argument that having fish & chips, Chinese take-aways, bottles of wine every week, beers every weekend or biscuits every evening could also be considered as (very) "boring"...... And to add to this - having little or no energy, being in pain or struggling with a low mood I would argue is also not very pleasant. The thing about making the leap to a healthy lifestyle is this. It's hard. However - if you are prepared to accept that things worth doing are hard & really COMMIT to a healthy lifestyle over the LONG TERM, you can and will achieve anything you want. Specifically, liking what you see in the mirror, fitting into those t-shirts or jeans, having the energy to play with the kids and generally being in a much better mood all round. I'll leave you with a little extract from something I read recently on change... is not easy healing yourself building new habits observing reality without projection or delusion this is work that takes effort but if you persist the fruits of your labour will have an immensely positive impact on your life.... If you have been struggling, I hope this helps in some way... David "be the change" Knowles P.S. If you are ready for a change let me know. If I can help, I will. :)
