Do you remember the Lion King?
If you have kids of course you do.
I do because my little brother Lee watched the bloody thing about 8 million times.
Over and over and over again!
Anyway - There was a little interaction in the movie between Simba & Pumba.
It went like this...
Simba: Hakuna matata?
Pumba: Yeah. It's our motto.
Simba: What's a motto?
Timon: Nothin'. What's-a-motto with you?
A little bit of a word play joke but the point being he was talking about a motto.
A way of going about your day to day life.
A guiding principle if you will.
One of mine is: Stop complaining. Start training.
You see when in doubt, NOTHING beats a good training session.
It could be 5 minutes or 30 minutes.
The idea is this - we can ALL find something to complain about or focus on that will distract us from. doing what we NEED to do.
Take the last two years for example.
The absolute LAST thing any of us should have been doing is sitting on the couch or hiding away waiting for the big bad C word to go away.
(In fact it's pretty established now that if you are overweight and in poor health then the C word will bite HARD if it does catch up with you...)
Getting back to my own guiding principle.
I, like you am prone to having doubts, feeling overwhelmed, procrastinating and making excuses.
I've no problem admitting it.
You see even though working in sport & fitness has been my profession for over a decade - at the end of the day I'm just a dad with 5 kids trying to make his way through life like you.
Which brings me back to my Stop complaining. Start training "motto".....
What this means to me is this.
Stop thinking about it and just do it. Go. Move. Start.
Basically I'm closing the gap between the thought of doing something and taking action.
I hope so.
What do you think? Are you in need of applying this principle to your own situation?
Comment and let me know,...
