Let me provide a bit of context. I've been in the sport & fitness game for almost 15 years. In my time I've created & launched multiple programs, owned and operated two gyms and have worked with 1000s of people. So I've seen a few trends come and go. More recently I've seen a change in attitude from the people who are choosing to work with us and join Evolutis - but also in conversations I'm having with people in general. And this is why I firmly believe that the gym (as it has been in the past) is dead. What I mean by this is that things like.....
(....and what happens when you put it all back on? Do ANOTHER challenge, right?) Thankfully, as I said, today I've seen a real change in mindset. A respect for what proper training & expert guidance can give you. But more than anything an appreciation for what a community gym can actually offer. Something MUCH more important than a 6 week transformation. A community of likeminded people, friendship, support, respect, inclusiveness, fun - a sense of achievement. I was chatting to one of the members of Evolutis recently as part of our weekly check ins. They were participating in our 30 Day Kickstart - a simple program designed to get people started with training again and to get to know us before making a longer term lifestyle change & commitment. I asked how they'd found their first few weeks with us. The exact words they used were: "I absolutely love it, it's the friendliest, most welcoming gym I've ever been in...." When I asked why she said: "People are so nice, everyone knew my name from the start and even down to all the coaches knowing about my previous injuries or niggles - they made sure the session was set up in the right way for me and were able to change things without any problem...." I'm delighted to say that they've (obviously) signed up to our full personal training program. :) Look - I'm not saying you shouldn't have some shorter term goals in relation to changing your body shape and liking what you see in the mirror - however I am suggesting that if you are prepared to buy into something more long term, an actual healthy lifestyle that you live year in year out - the positive changes to your body, health, fitness, energy, motivation & strength will happen and will exist year round. The difference being you'll feel full of energy and more awesome most of the time, not just for a week or two while you enjoy a holiday or big life event.... If you are reading this and thinking it's time for a REAL change - let me know - I'd love to help.... David "long live the gym" Knowles P.S.
