Remember when you went through that difficult break up when you were younger?
You know what I mean - you were in love. He/she was your soulmate. You were going to be together FOREVER. Right? But then - you started to notice that they didn't seem the same as they were at the start. In the beginning - They wanted to be around you all the time.... Always putting you first...making time for you... But after a while.... It 's clear they weren't as into you as you were into them.

I was chatting to someone this week about joining our 6 Week Foundations program here in Evolutis Personal Training Gym.
I always find it interesting listening to people trying to rationalise starting or continuing with their fitness journey...... (After 15+ years, working with 1000s of kids, athletes, men & women, it's fair to say I've heard ALL excuses!) Anyway - During the chat I was having we came on to price and it was at this point that the word "afford" was used........😰 Hearing something like this from anyone isn't nice, right?
When it comes from your 9 year old it cuts a little deeper. My amazing little girl Valentina is normally friendly, happy and super creative. Going to bed brings out a few emotions however. Something you have had to deal with yourself? You've probably said "I'd do anything for my kids" at some point, right?
As a father of 5 I know there have been times where I have felt very strongly about letting people and the world know that messing with or upsetting my kids is a BIG mistake! I was reading something on this particular topic by a person/trainer I have followed for years.... Strength Training - Why Is It SO Important?
Most people join a gym ONLY to lose weight. However - if this is your SOLE focus, you may be missing out on the biggest life changing benefits of strength training. Let me put this into context for you....... I caught up with a member of Evolutis today.
The results Derek has achieved are SO good I just had to share them with you. These results are INCREDIBLE! (but not surprising....) So last week I had the opportunity to deliver a Ted Talk style presentation to 200+ of my fellow fitness & gym owner peers in the Aviva Stadium.
(As a separate and slightly added bonus, the Ireland International Rugby team were training there that morning!) The event was run by the excellent FMA - it was a really amazing day with loads of brilliant key note speakers and lots of people in attendance looking to learn and grow. I was a little bit ill, tired and as a result nervous in the lead up and on the day itself. (SAD FACE!) 😢 To be completely honest I could have found any number of reasons to postpone my talk! But I felt the fear and did it anyway. The basis of my presentation was simple enough..... As men age, they may begin to notice changes in their physical and mental health. For many men over 40, a decrease in testosterone levels can lead to a loss of muscle mass and strength. This loss can be compounded by a sedentary lifestyle and poor dietary habits, leading to a range of health problems, including depression and anxiety. Fortunately, there is a way to combat these issues: strength training.
One of the problems you may have faced with making the decision to get (re)started on improving your health & fitness has probably been a bit of fear of the unknown.
Walking into a new gym by yourself. Flying solo. Not knowing anyone...... I was talking to someone this week about something which I found kind of upsetting.
You see this person has achieved some awesome things with their health, fitness & strength. The thing is - the stresses and strains of life have got in the way. To the point where this person feels as though they are off track and have taken a few backwards steps. So much so that they are very self conscious and think that other people may be looking at or judging them. ...and this upset me for one reason...... |
